Q: Company : How long have you been in business ?
A: FDCservers.net LLC was incorporated in 2003
Q: Where is FDCservers located?
A: FDCservers datacenter is located in Chicago IL, USA.
Q: How many servers are there in your facility?
A: We currently house over 3000 servers.

Q: What security do you have in place?
A: The security in the CBOT is very extensive, including Security Guards and Video Surveillance throughout the building. In addition the building is patrolled by Chicago Police Officers. All Tenants of the building must have proper identification including photo I.D. to gain entrance to the building. All visitors must show proper identification and sign in at the Guards desk before gaining access to the building. A pass from the Office Of The Building is need to take any and all equipment out of the building.
Q: Is your facility manned 24x7x365 ?
A: Yes, we have staff present at the datacenter 24x7x365, maintaining customer helpdesk and monitoring our network.
Q: Do you provide SLA?

Q: What happens when I have a hardware failure ?
A: Hardware failures are unfortunately an unforeseen problem that can occur at anytime. Fortunately with FDCservers all dedicated servers hardware is replaced if it is found to be damaged. This ensures that you won't have to spend additional funds to repair your Dedicated server. Colocation customer have an option to ship the replacement hardware to us or can buy it directly from us for quick replacement.
Q: What kind of support do you provide for servers at your datacenter?
A: There is a web based helpdesk where customers can submit their support requests 24x7. Our techs can provide server reboots, OS reinstalls and general help if a customer looses remote connectivity to their server.
Q: What is the difference between colocation and dedicated server ?
A: With colocation you house your server hardware at our facility. With dedicated server you rent one of our servers
Q: What is the difference between dedicated server and virtual server ?
A: With Virtual server you share the bandwidth and hardware resources with other customers. With dedicated server you are the only customer using the server.
Q: Are your servers managed ?
A: No. We do however offer a managed services department for help with issues not handled through the helpdesk. The charge is $50 an hour with a 30 minute commit. You can get in contact with them by emailing help@fdcservers.net
Q: Since your servers are unmanaged what kind of technical support can I expect ?
A: We offer free manual reboots, OS reinstalls and general help if customer loses remote connectivity to the server
Q: How many IPs (IPv4) do I get with my server ?
A: Servers come with one IP address when a server is released to a customer. Customers have the option to request additional IP addresses free of charge based on their usage justification. We generally do not allow more than 60 IPs for single server customers. Customers with multiple servers may contact us for custom IP assignments.
Q: How many IPs (IPv6) can I get ?
A: Each customer is assigned /48 of IPv6
Q: Can I come in to trouble shoot an issue with my server ? Do I need to bring in keyboard, monitor etc ?
A: We do allow colocation customers only to come in and work on their servers. We will provide a cart that has monitor and a keyboard. All visitors need to contact the helpdesk at least1 hour prior to their arrival
Q: Do you allow people to bring servers to your datacenter or do they have to be shipped in?
A: Customers who schedule with our NOC may bring their servers in.
Q: Do you have phone sales?
A: Yes Phone sales is available from 12pm-5pm monday-friday. If you do not get someone live then leave a message with your name, phone number and details on what your looking to get answers about and someone will get back to you ASAP.
Q: NETWORK : Is your network multihomed ? How many carriers do you use to connect to the internet
A: Our network is multihomed, using BGP4 routing protocol. We currently use 5 different carriers to connect to the internet.
Q: What is your total internet connection capacity ?
A: Our network currently has 101Gbit/s connectivity to the internet.
Q: Is IPv6 available ?
A: Yes, we can provide our customers with both IPv4 and IPv6

Q: BANDWIDTH : What is unmetered bandwidth? Is it the same as unlimited bandwidth ?
A: Unmetered bandwidth means that customer does not get charged any extra bandwidth usage fees regardless of their bandwidth usage. Unlimited bandwidth does not exist as every internet connection has a certain limit of bandwidth available.
Q: What is shared unmetered bandwidth ?
A: Shared bandwidth is a pool of available bandwidth that gets shared by all customers.
Q: How do you ensure there is enough bandwidth for everyone on your shared bandwidth network segment ?
A: We continually increase our connectivity to the internet. We started with 600Mbit/s in 2003. We are at 43Gbit/s in 2007.
Q: Do you offer any bandwidth that is not shared ?
A: Yes we do offer dedicated bandwidth that is provisioned on a separate network segment. Please check our website for the dedicated bandwidth pricing.
Q: What kind of transfer speeds and how much data transfer can I expect on the 100Mbit shared bandwidth plan ?
A: You can expect 15-30Mbit/s transfer speeds and 5TB-9TB monthly data transfer.

A: That depends which gigabit plan you sign up for. We have several options available on our website
