Hi there,

I have a prospective client who is interested in co-locating their own server on the 10mbit DEDICATED port plan. This machine will host irc as well as web based applications.

This particular client used to have a plan on the irc segment but ended up binning it as the irc segment soon after the introduction of l3 was shocking.

Im interested in how this co-lo box is located by comparison to the topology of other boxes in the area, IE will an attack on the irc segment affect this particular system via the core router or something.

I have no idea of fdc's topology so im hoping someone can fill in the blanks and help my client choose fdc as their host once again.

From previous incidents..when we were attacked..ppl who were colocating were also affected.. i am not too sure abt their topolgy.. I only saw Sharktech topolgy and from that, they have a separate router from the FDC core router. But we usually face problems at FDC core routers..which affects all of us

on dedicated line no. you should not have problems. yes, colo will have problems simple coz they are on shared network.
