I'm looking at Colocation Package 1, and it says "1 server space". Does that mean any size server? because I got 2 big grandpa servers i'd like to colo with FDC. They're both 9x18x22.5 LxWxD, and weight apporx. 80LBS each. Would this be a problem?
Also, if i decide to colo to FDC, would it be allright if i sent 'spare' parts with the servers? For example: an extra cpu, some spare drives, a couple memory modules, and a PSU. If yes, where would they be kept? What happens if some of my parts go missing?
yes that case size is fine.
you can send the extra parts , they will be placed in a pouched which will be taped to your server.

Would there be an inventory list of the parts? I know a server can't go missing, but a 1500 dollar cpu can, or am I just being paranoid?

If your worried, you should keep the parts at home ;). If there needed - overnight them to FDC, would'nt cost to much, less than if the part was misplaced, etc. Just a thought .

Maybe I'm just not experienced enough, but do CPU's really need replacing? I've never heard of one failing.

Usually what fails is the cpu fan and not the cpu (i think lol)
unfortunately they do fail
but not usual
that's why cpu's companies give guarantee up to 5 years
but in my whole life i believe i haven't seen more than 10 cpus failing
those that DO fail more are HDD's(the thing that we need most)

Actually, it would cost quite a bit because i'm up in Canada, and having that downtime while the cpu is being shipped would cost even more.

Yup, I had one of mine fail befor, and had to ship it to Intel and they UPS NextDay'd a new one to me.

ofcourse, I will be sure to send many extra drives.
Bummer, like you said "they will be taped to your server". I don't like that at all because there's to much risk of something going missing. Now, if they were placed some where more secure like a locked cabinet or safe i'd definately colo with FDC.

Wow, You learn something new every day :)
*is now worrying about my own colo*
