VDS #2 pre sale question (which OS is best?)

Im about to order Virtual Dedicated Server #2 (its all i can afford right now lol) and im on the page to input details and stuff

Firstly, which operating system is best for a newbie like myself ?
Fedora, Debian, Redhat, or Suse
It needs to be easy to use and understand and what not.


Secondly, what is Ircd/Shell Hosting and do i need it ?

I wud recomend you to stick with Fedora 2 or 3

As for irc ( internet relay chat), its mainly asking u if, u will be dealing with irc usuage, so they can place u on appropiate network segment.

From ur post, i doubt u will be in the irc business, and looking for webhosting only ?

Shell services are basically providing remote shell axx to clients so that they can compile and run background process on ur box for whate ever reason

Thanks for your reply, i went with Fedora, however it did not mention if it was 2 or 3

I chosen not for irc because i think it would be a waste of resources if i never use it.
