We currently rent a server from VSKgamingservers. They charge us approx. $210 a month for 2500GB a month. This looks like a much better deal however will it be enough bandwidth to support multiple game servers. We are looking to run at least 130 slots, about 12 seperate games.

Question 2. We want to build our own server and hook it up to your bandwidth. Is this possible? If so, how much will it save us?

hi there,
I know 1 of the admin of VSKgamingserver.com ;)
The nick Astralg0d aka Steve sounds familiar?

Well, $210 for 2.5tb is priced abit more than the avg. Search on WHT forums for different providers specials. I wouldnt consider using FDC service for running game serers, as latency seems to a be issue here. And i know that hurts gaming users ( esp when u gonna run more than 10+ games)

You could also ask ppl gaming experience here.. Above info is just my 2 cents

Latency issues?

I run a 40 man Counter-Strike:Source pub called the slaying grounds 67.159.5.2:27015
Allways full and average pings 15-50.

Good stuff!

Yea, familiar with both Steve and Ray from VSK. 4 gamers pinged a guys CS: Source server. 3 got better pings than VSK, 1 was about 5ms higher.

and when FDC tosses another GBIT on the fire like abovenet, (in the next couple months ) things will only get hotter....

I wouldn't run 10 game servers on a single machine. EVEN if it was a Dual Xeon 3ghz with 2gb Ram. Even if cpu usage is less than 50% average say... but what if a server changes maps, then the entire server will lag and spikes will occur.

Well maybe if you get a Quad Opteron setup with 4gb ram then you can have 200+ players and 10 game servers active :)

Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up on Ray and Steve and the VSK Gaming Servers.

www.rippoffray.com
and
www.vsksteals.com

Both of these sites point to the same place. So, you can click on either one.

VSK tends to be in the habit of stealing your payments, shutting off your servers, posting false testimonials, and several other illegal activities, including software piracy.

I'm not here to try to talk you into using them or not using them. Click the links and see for yourself.

The network here is not consistently stable here at this present time (growing pains) IMHO for game servers which have fast game play & loads of packets being transfered (like UT2k4). CS is another matter though, for it is not as intensive.

Getting away from Ray regardless, is good though.
