unable to set hostname or ip

hi i am unable to set eggdrop's hostname or ip or vhost. i always get eggdrop@mymainserverip. no matter which ip or hostname i change the eggdrop still displays eggdrop@mymainserverip. what should do i? vhosts are setup and verified working thru psybnc.

You need to set a ReverseDNS for the ip. You can do this by opening a helpdesk ticket.

rdns are already set. i have verified that the vhosts are working for psybnc. its just eggdrop that i am having a problem with. i cannot even change the hostname on the eggdrop and i have tried setting just a numeric ip on the eggdrop. however it just defaults to my main server ip and the hostname stays at eggdrop. i am loading eggdrop on a virtual server btw.

Is it set in the eggdrops config file? Seems a bit odd that it wouldn't be reading the settings you've given it.

yes i edited the .conf file and changed the "set my hostname" and "set my ip" settings to no avail. any suggestions?
