installing zendopt

i have recently tried to install zend on my server using /scripts/installzendopt it installs it but nothing works. im using php version 4.3.10.

root@sarah [~]# php -v

i think that would be this line

safe_mode_protected_env_vars =LD_LIBRARY_PATH ;

type on in php.ini had disabled_functions disabled_functions
