Slow download Speeds...

I have VDS#3 and the download speeds are always slow, compared to dedicated boxes in fdcservers.net .
is that normal because its a VDS?

VDS servers are only 5mbit per account. so your not gonna even come close to dedicated server speeds.

Kornyhiv, yah... VDS are only on Cogent bw ( small pipe, 5 Mbps) and the dedicated non-irc servers are on bgp mix ( Cogent+L3) while the irc servers are on the L3 pipe only.. I believe they have 3-4 Gige link with L3 active now and around 1-2Gige link with Cogent.

But performance and speeds are slow on VDS , just its nature. Like they say " you get what you pay for"

Personally i hate VDS..atleast VDS in FDCServers
If yah getting into any hosting business, i HIGHLY recomend you to get a dedicated server.. VDS are there if you need a play toy for personal use
