Hi!
I live in Sweden and i'm looking for a host that allows a BitTorrent tracker...Do you allow it?
A quick reply would be great!
To the best of my knowledge they allow anything that isn't illegal :D

For an official answer, please e-mail Sales@FDCServers.net or Petr@FDCServers.net for an answer. As Abobo stated, basically anything legal is allowed (but dont qoute me on that). Best of luck .

FDC will in all likelyhood say yes it is allowed. Mainly because there is too much debate on whether tracker owners are liable for the material posted, same as any other P2P software. It will be allowed so long as the material on the tracker is not being provided by the server owner or anyone he is affiliated with.

I'd be very concerned hosting a bittorrent tracker, unless I'm 100% sure that it will never host illegal files. Because as FDCservers is located in USA, you can easily get in trouble with RIAA/MPAA reports. RIAA recently contacted us for a similar issue so I'd recommend you to be extremely careful. :hmm:
I believe Suprnova was hosted by FDC, so there's your answer.

I believe Suprnova was hosted by FDC, so there's your answer.
For example: Warez is hosted in FDC's DC (as with every DC), but just because its hosted there doesn't mean its legal ;). A buit torrent might be hosted in FDC that isn't legal, but that doesn't mean its right. Suprnova has been discussed on the old forum's before. Anyway, as long as its legal and not against the TOS/AUP, you should be fine .

A tracker itself isn't illegal. It's the bits/pieces inside which may be considered illegal. Hosting a program itself on your server in FDC's datacenter most certainly would be illegal because you are personally providing the program. All a tracker does is point you in the right place.

I'm suprised that he's in Sweden and he wants to host a bittorrent tracker in USA, as Sweden has the highest connections on the planet (ie 1 Gbit for less than 100 euros monthly). Several trackers are hosted in Sweden, Belgium etc. And I really doubt he's interested to host a non-warez tracker as he probably wouldn't care to ask.
varg, several trackers have been shutdown by MPA/RIAA as well, so I don't think your theory works.
Anyway guys, discussing it with Sales@FDCServers.net or Petr@FDCServers.net (as JBWebmaster previously said) is the only proper way to know. ;)
Good Luck :hey:
I have a tracker on my dedicated server... it serves legal files... Dont know why there should be a problem with that..
