Need help with setting up MRTG on VDS

hi all,
i am kind of new to linux. I am trying to setup MRTG on my machine. I have installed everything needed. I run cfgmaker for MRTG and everything works fine but all the interfaces are commented out in the cfg file. here is the error listed in the cfg file (i have replaced the IP with xxx).

### Interface 31 >> Descr: '' | Name: '' | Ip: '208.xxx.xxx.xxx' | Eth: '' ###
### The following interface is commented out because:
### * has a speed of which makes no sense
### * got 'Received SNMP response with error code
### error status: noSuchName
### index 1 (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.31)


I installed MRTG on another linux machine and didn't have any problem at all. My guess is it has something to do with the virtual ethernet. I will really appreciate if anyone can help me out.
