Issues with built in firewalling or is it automatically disabled at start. Don't want to lock myself out if it starts on or if there is a way to install it with it automatically disabled or allowing all that would be great.

No answers. Anyone installed this yet? Does anyone know if the firewall is enabled by default?

Thanks

From what I've read yes it is enabled by default.

I just found that out. Had to submit my ticket to have them disable the built in firewall. Interesting though is the ability for my mail server to still receive my emails that people send. So it must have enabled that port by default or when it scanned the services or something.

FDC would be smart to workup a how to remotely install SP1 and disable the firewall by default or allow the remote desktop port on install on your Windows Server 2003. Might save them alot of headache from helpdesk requests.

Not so sure that the firewall is enabled by default. Some of my services are still accessible. CS Source server, UT Server, DOD Server, and FTP others are not accessible. WWW, Remote Desktop

Odd

Still waiting on helpdesk will update when I know more.

I finally got in. Not sure what they had to do to get it going but now I am uninstalling it. It screwed over one of my programs. Wont even run now.

you probably shouldn't uninstall sp1...it has some critical fixes that are better to have than to worry about whatever programs don't work.....mainly because it won't matter if your programs work if someone hacks your box using a pre SP1 exploit.

I have a firewall. I sell the services that sp1 disables. No way I can install it at this time.

what are you selling that sp1 disables......it seems kinda wierd that it would break anything like that.

My counter-strike 1.6 servers would not start. I will have to do some testing see if it was just a fluke or what. All I know is that it worked fine before. And then after sp1 it would start and then just stop. At the same time tossing a dr watson error. I had cs source servers, dod and ut servers running fine. But the cs 1.6 servers would not run. Uninstalled sp1 and now the cs 1.6 servers run correctly.

I am using sygate pro firewall. You need to connect to it with /console on your remote desktop shortcut to get access to manage it.

I have since this post installed SP1 on two different remote machines without problems. So maybe it was just a fluke in this case that it didnt work correctly. I am going to give it some time before I try to reinstall sp1 on this machine.
