i have a user that is on a IP and he is using 1.5-3.0 gig od b/w a day and i have others that are not using a gig a day..... user load is not that high
::: Current Local Users: 385 Max: 395
::: Current Global Users: 1085 Max: 2559

any ideas on what would be causeing the high b/q usage ? i did a port scan and i dont see anything but the norm.....

THanks Zach

Those values seems ok ( a tid-bit high mebbe), but thats how ircd run. On my server, each ircd, uses abt 4-10gb a day ( thats coz its linked to a large network). So it all depends how many clients are on that ircd, how big is the network it is linked to.Also amt of connects and disconencts per min, uses alot of bandwidth. So if he has some lousy dialup or unstable botnets hosted, that keep disconecting and reconencting, that will count towards bw usuage.

1Gb for 1k global network seems normal.

how you could count the bw you spend in the shell cpanel only count web ftp etc.

vdsmania, umm, in WHM, there's a a thing called Bandmin, it counts bw per ip
you can access it by typing http://ip/bandwdith/ ( assuming u set a username and passwd in WHM)

Zmench, just outta curiousity, is it the inbound or outbound bw high?

Bandmin monitors all traffic in and out of the server. So yes, it will include a shoutcast radio if you install it.

the bandwidth is outbound from the server

k, like i said, its normal to use that much bw..just keep an eye on mrtg graphs to check for unusual bw pattern, and ur disk space.. using locate, try searching .rar and .exe files just incase, u got hacked and ur box is being used as a "file server"
