When i try to use ntp with "ntpdate ntp.uio.no" i get "ntpdate[23392]: Can't set time of day: Operation not permitted"

Isnt it possible to update the time on a VDS?

Nope. That has to be done by FDC. Since it's a virtual server in essence you would be controlling the time of everyone else on the VDS as well. I think this was discussed in another thread as well.
