Could any body give me an advice?
My site is basically a forum(phpbb).Every day it is having an avg of 400,000 hits and a BW consumption of 1GB.It is having around 5000 registered users and will continue to increase. It is being hosted on the shared hosting plans. It is becoming very slow when the online users are over 30.So, is time for me to swith to an VDS/VPS?Are FDC VDSs are reliable?
I am having DS with FDC and I am extremely satisfied with it.I dont want to use it to host the site.

If you searched the forum, there has been lots of problems with certain VDS machines..
I am just curious as to why you wouldn't host it on your dedicated server?

for a server that large only a dedicated will do. you might as well piss on your money and then flush it down the drain if you think you can run a website of that size on a VDS. Good analogy if you think about it

The thing is that I can't trust my own expertise.
It seems I should go for a Managed Dedicated Server.

I could help you out somewhat. Im not an expert and didn't goto school for linux/unix or anything like that but I do run a few servers myself. If you want help instead of of going with someone with managed services just let me know.

Thank you very much for your kindness.
I would consider it.

i am no expert in forums management, but i can help yah out with other server management. Msn addy in profile
if you ever need help trust me there are more than enough people here to help ya out!! including myself
VDS/VPS are a rip off.
Most plans here at FDC have bandwidth limits, its cheaper to go dedicated... not alot has to be manged really just adding IP's if you need them. ALso they come with 100MBit lines so users will be very thankfull.
Also the Servers (if you can get one since there sold out) are very reliable... I have refered many people here because I like FDC.
I currently have 2 Dedicated servers and one VDS with FDC,
IMO The VDS is good for forums. I have a website running on there that has over 20K of members. and an active forum... Ofcourse a dedicated has more power..etc. but sinds you are talking about a single website.. Why not go for a VDS?
