Hello,

Although I really like that FDC's forum is finally upgraded to vBulletin 3.xx, I believe it would be lovely if we can all suggest some more things that we would like to see on it. Like:

1) Additional Style packs (so members can have several choices) - Any suggestions?

2) Additional smiles to show even more feelings and for fun - Any suggestions?

My StylePack Suggestion: I would like to see "vBulletin 3 Classic" stylepack (that's making vBulletin 3.xx look like vBulletin 2.xx): http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111141

Thanks

As I stated earlier, I think a darker theme would be good (maybe a dark blue). I think there should be some more emoticons, these things look to odd, there different colors, I dont know about the rest of yall', but I liked the old ones :D.

GS2K1 (http://www.fdcservers.net/vbulletin/member.php?u=19) very well suggested that logo image needs replacement. And he posted a really nice image:

The arcade is good fun, I feel that it would not be in the right place on FDC's forums as the forums are for help and not like others which are for entertainment purposes. Good idea none the less.

Psy dude, definatly go with the theme to make it look like 2.x, i know ppl like vb3 for some odd reason, but it's toooooo XPish kiddie looking, go with the straight smooth to the point of 2.x if you can get that theme that would kick ass. kinda like the best of both worlds :)

i noticed registration was very quick, with no verification via email.

I had friends who has complained in the past how individiuals have used scripts to auto create numerous login accounts.

Might be good to have a verification via email. This is to prevent people from using scripts to create accounts on the forum unnecessarily...

Another option we do not want to use email to verfiy then allow the user to key in a unqiue alphanumeric code that would appear during the registration process. Not sure if it can be implemented with this forum.

But just a suggestion.

Also something else that i have mentioned in the past, Try to make certain topics only accessible or seen onced logged in (eg. Network Security Issues).

I'm pretty sure you need to pay Vb extra to do that

Also use that fdc logo it looks good :)

we need a complaint o meter. Everytime you post a complaint in the outages thread you should get a little man underneather your name that's holding a sign that says "STFU complainer" =)

Actually on a more serious note I'd like to see bigger avatars. 100x100 would be enough. That's what my current one is that I use pretty much everywhere else.

Also i think a darkblue/black theme would be nice. MQ-James.....inverted is ugly lol.

Not outages, just packet loss due to L3 mainly.

the level3 outages are bad, cogent is reliable and you asked about the 1gbit plan which is cogent, the cogent line is a lot more reliable.

Yep you have to pay for Copyright Removal and unless FDC did they can remove it but if they did not they cannot remove it. I think IMO Copyright Removal is a waste of money as it does nothing special and stuff.

i dunno if its just me, the new forums kinda loads a bit slow compared to old one..like i gotta wait 4-6 secs to open the threads.

Then again, it could be my connection fault

the forums render faster for me, and as such load faster, on the old ones I was scrolling down while waiting for the data, it is now instant.

i think it is you, loads fine for me. does the forums have gzip enabled? (no info at the bottom about it) as that would cut the loading time in half! (but its fast enough for me.... basically instant)

same. I think it's because it's more html 4 compliant with the latest php speed enhancements. it load like lightning.

most likely your phone lines are getting moisturized. this happens in older houses. also the point of connection may be flooded with water. this happened with my old dsl because some kids decided to break open the access panel at the connection point at the street. Even though this is waterproof(sorta) the moisture slows the data down a bit. Cable isn't as susceptable to this because the access points are usually in a building and are wrapped specially for this purpose.

i love my cable, i get about 500-600 KB (yes big KB) down and only about 50KB up but still a nice connection! about $40 USD a month. (got a year free)

Yah, its a pretty old house..and previously had noise problems..the tech ended up cutting the wire at 3 diff positions and replaced those 3 segments with new wires ( hence increasing the number of connectors) which lie just below the grass..Definitely its gets flooded..I asked him to change the whole dam wire from the pole to the house.. he goes itz too expensive to do that..Anyways, i am moving outta this residence once my semester is done ( in April)
