View Full Version : Server Purchase Pre questions.
Hi all,
Im looking to buy one of the AMD Sempron 2400 machines unmetered dedicated one. Was wondering it doesnt get capped does it? Its Trully Unmetered 100mbit?
Secondly can I post them like 4*300gb hard drives so that they can install them?
What kind of hard drives are they SCSI? IDE?
Regards,
Sarit.

You can push upto 5000GB/month only.
Else, you will get capped!
HAHAHAHA you dont think you will get 100mbps do you? expect 40mbps tops on web. irc dont even try. about hdd you can send to them or buy it by your self. ask sales@fdcservers.net
I don't think they allow you to send it hard drives anymore. If you would read the TOS you would notice that you're allowed to burst up to 100Mbps, but you can't have a sustained usage of 15Mbps or they can cap you.
cant send in anymore.. sad but true :(
hardware updates are too expensive at fdc, plus you dont own the bought hardware..
if you colocate a machine there then you can send your hard drives which is what I am doing building a atx machine monster and sending it to them.
However if you use one of their machines then you have to use their hardware.
So yes you can send in hard drives but has to be a colocation plan.
On average what is the max youve obtained speed wise?
Just communicated with their sales people.

I was able to push my DS3 upto 50Mbps for few hours and never tested it beyond that.
DS3 at 50mbps a nice concept :) not trying to be mean or poke at you or anything but 44.736 Mbps is the max a DS3 can do, now an OC1 can do 51.84 Mbps and my OC3 which can do 155.52 Mbps did hit about 95Mbps for a few minutes until the file was transferred just wanted to test out someones server for them once.
he probably meant Dedicated Server #3

Hey, I said upto but not continuously.I mean for few seconds it had pushed upto 50Mbps and most of the time around 45Mbps.
Mine is Dedicated Server 3.

prices are fair remember someone has to physically remove the server and install whatever you order. Everything can't be free

the speeds are awesome for the price. Feel free to look high and low on the Internet for better deals

I am pushing upto 40Mbps only for 4-6 hrs on the weekends and that too on Fridays.
However, my overall bandwidth consumption is below 4TB/month. :hey:
Don't take it as an excuse to cap me. :lol
I just want to play it safe!

I don't think its the labor cost thats stopped them from doing it. Recent incidents such as misplacing the drives, clients fighting who owns the hdd in the end and other such stuff might be why they stopped doing it.

Kev, since your a WHT member, i am sure you have seen similar deals as of FDC over there :) ( lets not go there )

Have you forgotten me?
We just chated yesterday. :hmm:
May be too many chat with you.
Mine is Dedicated Server # 3 (2 boxes) not on the irc.
I assume Dedicated Servers on Irc segment are always having network issues.

oh u the guy from AP? I no longer remember who adds me and msges me on fdc, in a week i get added by atleast 3-5 peeps. I even had to switch to Trillian as my msn contact list is full and only Trillian allows u to cross it lol.
As for servers on irc segment, yes packet loss issue and slow speed are common since they only use crowded L3 ( no BGP mix) to lit it.
