I have a couple of questions about a dedi server
Can I run an IRC server and a web server on one machine?
How much bandwidth do I get?
What is the reliability guarantee?
What server limitations are there?
How much extra is CPanel?
Why is your ICQ/MSN never on?

I will try and answer some, you can do everything on an irc server that you can on a webserver, except the IRC servers are allowed to host/connect to IRC servers and do IRC related activities, last time I checked, cpanel was included, or $10 extra if it was not included, there is no reliability guarentee. and there are no server limitations as far as I know

Most of us here are just customers, so that means we don't represent FDCservers but we can give you some unofficial answers to your questions:
1. You can run IRC proccesses, as long as you request your server to be in IRC segment (AboveNet bandwidth)
2. 100 Mbps port. Average usage: 3000-5000 GB outgoing, 30 TB inbound (according to http://www.fdcservers.net/tos.html)
3. There is no Service Level Agreement (SLA). However, my experience with providers who offer SLA has showed me that it doesn't really mean anything if you have downtimes in one month and they just refund you $0.10-$1.00 for the whole month.
4. Depends on what you mean limitations. HDD/RAM/CPU specs are mentioned at http://www.fdcservers.net/dedicated.html
5. According to the website, cPanel is free
6. No idea, that's something that an official representative should answer. However, technical issues are solved via helpdesk (http://www.fdcservers.net/helpdesk/) and sales issue via email (sales@fdcservers.net)

Okay, a couple more questions and some defitions:
1. Is support easy to contact and quick to respond?
2. How fast is FDC at it's worst? at it's best?
3. How much downtime has the network experienced (the IRC segment)?
4. What are my Limitations as to what I can run on the server according to TOS?
5. Do we know about network maintenence and etc. before hand?
6. How many IPs do we get

1) They usually respond quickly. I think the average wait time is 20 mins for a response 40 mins for a solution(replacing hardware takes time)
2) at it's worst according to people right now max 15kb/s but I've gotten speeds of over 6-7 MB/s before.
3) hardly ever downtime. usually packetloss during dos attacks.
4) you can run everything that doesn't violate US law. Things like warez boxes are not allowed.
5) They usually announce network maintenence 2 weeks beforehand
6) Infinite ip's as long as you can justify their use.

So let me get this straight:
I can get IPs just in case I need a couple of nameservers, I can run IRC, I have 30x more bandwidth than I do now and I actually get support? I know whom is going to be my next dedi host!

good choice ;)
These are 100% self managed servers!!! You will get 0 support!!
you get support for the following
- you cant connect to your box then they will help you
- hardware
- billing
- select few other things

Even better!
You realize that means fdc will not 'manage' your server for you... right?

as in, you have to run, set up etc the server, they will install OS, plug in to network and leave it be

I know. I don't expect nor want them to completely manage my server. I just think that's better than what I am getting at Burst which is crap and a half.
btw, you think I could get Mandriva?
currently you cant expect anything of them.. my vds died 40minutes ago, i posted a ticket 35minutes ago, still no reply. i would advise you to look around the forum, and read others experiences beore you do anything, there is a lot of other good providers out there too for 80$+ a month for dedicated servers
please dont complain about vds's here... we are talking about dedicated servers.. the vds's here suck as does the support for them. hopefully that will change. support for dedicated servers is great... very fast response times.. ask anyone... other than the people with vds's...

experiances vary, my server hdd died, and I got a new hdd put in, and they left the old hdd inw hile I tried to recover data, then took it out. Not had a problem, sometimes a little slow on support, but deffinatly better than my experiances with burst

This may supprise you but, I have a VDS with them and I think it's great. My first 2 - 3 weeks sucked but I believe their turning that around. I had them change the OS for me two days ago and I think they put me on one of their new servers. It's alot faster and my reply times with them through everything was about 20 mins per reply. So with this said, I think FDC is a good choice. I may even get some colo with them once they have more space.

they have space for colo, just not large orders as far as I know
yeah they said they won't have room for cabinets or racks until they finish their new server room (so only towers afaik)
