Dear Valued Customers,
We would like to inform you that we are fully aware of some network problems that occured recently, affecting dedicated and virtual servers performance. We have already fixed most of the problems and we're working hard to solve all of them and make our network stable/fast as before, if not even better. We sincerely apologize for any problems that affected you and we will do our best to have all issues fixed in the next days.
This announcement should be able to cover several questions/problems you may had and we'll close multiple threads that were opened about these issue, to prevent further confusion. You may freely discuss this announcement on this thread and please do a forum search before opening a new thread, as there are many threads for similar issues.
WEB NETWORK STATUS
Slow Performance (STATUS: SOLVED)
We got aware of the slow performance that had occured lately and we already added additional transit from Cogent on Friday 03/Jun/2005 around 4PM. We will be adding more transit to shared bandwidth network segments within 2 weeks and performance will get improved even more. We fully understand your complaints on this issue and we're working on some plans to eliminate this on future by purchasing additional bandwidth on time, as we want to continue offering top quality services at the lowest possible prices.
IRC NETWORK STATUS
31/May/2005: Level(3) -> AboveNet (STATUS: ALREADY DONE)
We recently swapped Level(3) to AboveNet in order to provide better services to our customers, with less problems and higher stability as AboveNet is one of the top quality ISPs with 1.5 million fiber lines internationally. We will be using Cogent in IRC segment either as fail-over in maintenances, either whenever additional bandwidth is needed, preventing complete outages / slowness.
01/Jun/2005: Routing problems (STATUS: ALREADY SOLVED)
Some of you may had noticed that we had a temporary routing problem when we first re-routed to AboveNet, which was caused from Yipes/Level(3)'s as they did not stop advertising our IP blocks on time, causing a routing confusion and making our network inaccessible in some places. After several phone/email contacts with them, this issue got permanently solved at 01/Jun/2005 10:50 CDT.
05/Jun/2005: Router replacement (STATUS: SOON)
Since we started using AboveNet, we also started having some sudden traffic decreasements causing slow performance and packetloss for 3-10 minutes. We kept informing AboveNet about it and their reaction was pretty fast by scheduling an emergency maintenance at 05/Jun/2005 02:00-04:00 CDT on their Chicago router. While technicians will be working on this maintenance, you may notice a few ping timeouts or short outages.
VDS STABILITY PROBLEMS (STATUS: SOLVED)
There were complaints about the stability of our virtual servers lately. All issues should be solved by now as we upgraded our hardware to dual opterons, RAID-5 and high amount of RAM. If you continue having issues, please open a helpdesk ticket.
FDC CONTROL PANEL / SECURE HELPDESK
Once again, we listened to our customers' requests and we are proud to announce that we have finished developing our own secure helpdesk that will require username/password authentication from customers/resellers in order to reboot their servers, reinstall their O/S, etc. Secure helpdesk will be in production in the next days, once we completely finish our heavy testing proccess/bugfixes on it.
There will be also a control panel soon that will allow you to manage several things for your servers (ie Customer information, ReverseDNS, RWhois, etc) that will get improved with new features all the time.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
