Don't you guys think that there are already 5 threads for this AboveNet issue ? I really don't think additional threads do any help:

Take care :hey:
Everyone is fed up with this situation , we'll complain for this all the times we like until the end of problems, is it ok? ;)
I monthly pay 477 $ for a service that's too bad at the moment...

Nobody stopped you from complaining. What psyx suggested was to continue your rant in 1 of those 4 threads already opened. There's no need to open up new threads for the same old topic. If you think, opening 100's of threads will get FDC attn, think again!
Other threads refer to some days ago outage. I don't mind going on complaining here or there. Close this thread if you like but we're keeping on complaining, hoping the problem will be solved as soon as possible.

Complaining does nothing to speed up the process of fixing something. all it does is annoy other users of FDC as well as the FDC staff. It's the same thing that happens when hundreds of people open helpdesk tickets for packetloss or VDS, it makes them have to spend a few hours combing through the helpdesk to see if they are all the same issue rather than actually being able to focus all their attention on the problem. So perhaps if you all just stopped posting every 30 seconds about "OMFG FDC SuX0rz teh big one111!" then maybe they could get some work done.
Just thought of this: watch this before making any further posts http://www.penguinsstealmysanity.com/posting.html

Yup, but the outages are almost reliable to happen (at least) once a day, as my graphs show. :)
I really hope that fdc and abovenet resolves this issue fast...
ive been down at least 7 times so far today ... do you think they are doing something about that faulty router, and are switching connectins back and forth throyugh it and see ing if it works .. the downtime we get is when were going through that router or switching to a working one?
I don't understand why it's so slow to replace a router... A good provider have material in reserve to replace (in 24 hours max) when one is defective you don't think?
idd .. yet they waited until after everything mucked up with the swaping of the lines before they do anything about it
I am really fed up with this situation for 20 days ,Outge over and over and can't even log to my 3 machines at all ,so when we will get this problem solved, because i think i will transfer to other ISP that give me a stable bandwidth
What can we do? Complaining again? Hmm.... I think it's better to unsuscribe.
tbh .. they should give us some free time .. we DESERVE it after putting up with cr*p like this most days
anyone still/again online? server doesnt come back online :(

jesus please everyone stop posting already. I'm tired of reading all these useless complaints everyday. I was hoping to read something new and inciteful this morning but all I get is the same stuff as the last few days. Please everyone read the other threads and don't post unless you have something to add that hasn't already been discussed in this forum.
Everything having to do with the last month of downtimes and bad pings and outages has been explained in this forum already and FDC is on the case. So STOP POSTING about outages.
yup .. mines back up .. touch wood

Reread the TOS and AUP. Stop complaining and trying to get some kind of money back for a service you paid for on those terms. Everyone is paying the same amount as you and if everyone wanted their money back FDC would have to close it's doors and dump all clients. They are a budget provider and in such are not a full on cash cow like most of you seem to think they are. Give them time to build a better relationship with all the upstream providers and work out the bugs with the transit and then you'll be glad you stuck with FDC through thick and thin in sickness and in health till broke do you part.
Chrono , sorry, i cant .. i MUST .. POST *argl*
hehe
no but seriously its just nice to get some feedback from other people to see if its server related.. Like i said before, dont want to spam helpdesk everytime just to hear they know there is a problem. :)

The problem is that we know that it's going to continue to have it's current issues until bummer posts a "completed" status report on the thread started for the abovenet issue. Therefore we can all infer that any packetloss and downtime is the result of either a) the abovenet issue b) ddos attacks. So you shouldn't have to waste time posting here about the same outages 2000 times.
all i did is ask if anyone else was out look what it started LOL
If i do remember correctly Luke said they was going to fix the problem this weekend. So maybe that is what is going on ;)

Chrono .. The main reason i posted here is that my vds was down, and i was wondering if others were down.
We are allowed to ask others if their servers are down, so we dont go flooding helpdesk with hundreds of tickets and requests.
This "Outage" forum is here for a reason .. if you dont want to see people complaining about outage .. just dont read this section of the forums .. it really isnt that hard.

That would be true if we hadn't already established that the VDS are always out. The outage forum has a purpose but only if it's an unknown uncheduled outaged for servers. We had already established that there is a problem and that they are working on it which is why there is really no need for further posts about it, everytime a new post is made it does nothing for the current problem. I have some ideas on ways to improve the way we communicate outages. I personally thing the outage forum should have several subforums.
Outage should be split into 3 subforums
Web Segment
IRC Segment
Dedicated Segment
Each of those 3 forums being divided into
Dedicated Servers
Co-Located Servers
VDS Servers
That way we can separate these problems correctly into the subcategories as to know exactly what is going on. It would be very helpful in my opinion to the overall organization of the forum.

I did not know that the connection to my server would be going up and down and up and down etc for most of the day

but you knew about the abovenet issues. which is the underlying cause of all outages as of late.

All you people who are whining and crying about some outage should just shut up. I've been with this company for like 3 years, and this is the first time in over a 1 1/2 years there's been any serious downtime.
Considering how much you are paying per month, you get a lot more than you pay for. Just look around at some other places and their prices... and if you don't think their servers go down, guess again. They ALL go down sometimes. So, just relax and wait. I'm sure that FDC is doing everything they can to not just get your box back up, but to fix any issues that caused the downtime to begin with.
