How do I actually setup my DNS??

I am EXTREMELY new to this, and I have not as of yet found an easy guide to doing this!

I have a domain called "narutopride.com", and I want to point it to my new server that I have bought at FDC.
I got told to make 2 ips and then point nameservers to that.. blah blah.. the fact is that if anyone could give me a step by step (and i mean literally baby steps) as to how to do this, then I would REALLY appreciate it!!!!!

Please! I'm DESPERATE HERE

Thanks
Cameron

Ill try to give you something ;)

First you need to register your nameservers with your registrant (godaddy).
A How To on that can be found here: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/faq/faq.asp?se=%2B&faq_id=113&topic_id=17&topic=Domains & https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/faq/faq.asp?se=%2B&faq_id=94&topic_id=17&topic=Domains

Then, Login to WHM http://ip:2086 with root/*****

Edit Setup -> Primary Nameserver -> ns1.domain.tld -> assign ip & add an a entry...
Do the same for ns2.domain.tld --> Save the edit setup.

Then wait and keep checking your domain status @ http://dnsreport.com I might forget somthing. But this should get you somewere ;)

This is what shows on my DNS record stuff

Let me know if all of this is correct

A RECORDS FOR NAMESERVERS

ns1.narutopride.com. A My first assigned IP address
ns2.narutopride.com. A My second assigned IP address

NS RECORDS

narutopride.com. NS ns1.narutopride.com.
narutopride.com. NS ns2.narutopride.com.

Now, i have set these up, and then when i go to my registrar 1and1, I point to ns1.narutopride.com and ns2.narutopride.com, and an error comes up telling me this :

Subdomains of the original domainname as name servers for the original domainname need a fixed IP! Please refer to the FAQ (keyword: Glue domain)! The name server is not sufficient or hasn't been approved.

erm... I'm sure i defined the IP addresses with the A records didn't I?

Does it matter that I'm not registered with godaddy.com? because I have a 3 year contract with 1and1 for that domain name.
