File a ticket explaining what happened and they will log into your server and make it so it's usable through remote port.
reboot will be required. also, make sure on the next time to add "allow from <YOUR IP> to me" and "allow from me to <YOUR IP>" on rules BEFORE your deny rules.
eg:
ipfw add 10 allow from <IP> to me
ipfw add 10 allow from me to <IP>
ipfw add 30000 deny all from any to any
got it?

b4sh, how do you know he's having a UNIX server and specifically FreeBSD server from his 1st post?
He could be even having a Windows server for example ;)
most of us have unix and i used ipfw just as example, to make he understand what i mean :)

Well you didn't mention it's an example, neither O/S dependancy so I spent 2 hours searching on my Windows server, where I add these IPFW lines.
Anyway, I didn't spend 2 hours of course, but still I wanted to show you how easily someone can get confused asking a general question and getting a specific reply ;)
got your point. i just though that "eg" was the contraction for example, now i'm
hahaha :)
Windows for servers is not worth mentioning, a firewall wont make it better :P

b4sh, I didn't even see the "eg" until you mentioned it, now it makes sense. sorry
hahaha :)

You really know nothing of all the security vunerabilities that are released for the open source software community do you? You seem to know very little of windows also.
I can say the same about you..
I can say the same about you..
I have a linux vps and have been using linux in some form for the past 8 years. You can say it but again you have no idea. I am not trying to knock you. Both systems have their flaws. And because of the flaws in each of the systems none is really any better than any other. I can config a linux system that will be breached in 20 minutes and I could configure a windows system that can be breached in 20 minutes. But with the proper precautions I can make either of them rock solid and not easily vunerable. I like linux based systems. I have no problem using it as I do use it daily. But I also am not some zealot that believes anything windows is insecure. This is just marketing hype that you are swallowing like there is no tomorrow. Open your eyes and realize that there is a world outside of your close-mindedness. :hey:
haha :) sorry, but stop it before you make yourself ridiculous.
YOU were the one trying to insult me, i did nothing..
and a linux vps.. OH wow awesome your a linux god (sarcastic)
hahaha :)

Funny because this sounded like a dig to anyone running a windows server....
I wasnt trying to insult you... It just sounds like to me your ignorant. I am not going to continue a pissing match with you. I dont just have a windows VPS. I didnt have a linux vps until 2 years ago. But I have built 35 million dollar storage area networks based around sun and windows and have extensive knowledge of linux. Have you ever heard of a Hitachi 9960 Disk Storage Subsystem? I don't see the point in continuing this... have a good day...
windows vps.. wtf :P
i configured/installed my own windows vps but just for fun.. windows takes to much ram/cpu out of the box for nothing.. No use for servers :P

Maybe for you. But I am running game servers and since the exes are optimized for use on Windows boxes I will stick with windows. I mispoke when I said windows vps. I corrected it to say linux vps. For example I dont have a windows vps I have a colocated Windows box. When I can afford to put 2 gig of ram in it and its running dual opteron 246s I think I can run plenty of websites on it if I chose. But I choose not to :D I run game servers instead. I can run 10 game servers on one cpu with windows whereas if I was on linux I can run 6 to 8. Again I choose windows. To each his own...
ok :)
For gameservers , ok thats a good explanation, i cant recommend windows servers for anything other than gameservers..
what firewall do you guys recommend for unix based systems?
ipfw, ipchains, iptables, ipf... what OS are you using?
